Teething Babies
When Do Babies Start Teething?
Teething in babies can start as early as 3 months and can take up to as long as 2 years for all their teeth to come through. There is no wrong or right age for teething they will come through in their own time.
Generally the two lower middle teeth are the first to pop through followed by the four upper middle teeth and the incisors and finally the back molars. Teeth may bob up and down before they finally cut through the gum. The bigger the teeth the more discomfort your baby may experience. Some babies seem to have no trouble at all with their teething while others will take on a whole new personality that can drive parents slightly nuts with their urges to bite and their cranky tantrums. Depending on how many teeth are coming through at once the pain can come and go. These are all normal teething symptoms.
Signs of Teething
• Excessive dribbling
• Clear runny nose and or mild cough
• Wakefulness
• Fussiness
• Crying (upset easily)

If your infant has symptoms such as a high fever or you notice mucous or blood in their stools or if they have violent diarrhea then you should take your baby to your doctor for assessment. These signs could be symptom of something more serious. It is also not uncommon for infants to get ear ache while teething but if they do start to run a temperature it is best to get it checked. Temperatures in babies can go from mild to dangerously high in a very short time and it is usually a sign of infection.
